Dr. Meana Tau
She doesn’t really have any nicknames as people respect her enough to call her by her proper title, Dr. Tau. She does, however, like to be called kitten, but will never admit it to her co-workers or in a professional setting.
Physical Description
Being one of the shorter fae varieties, she is still taller than an average human. She has tall black fur covered ears on the top of her head, the same colour as her long hair, and long black whiskers on her cheek. She also has a long, slender feline tail, also covered in black fur. She has feline canines in her mouth, and vertical slit irises like most cats. Her nails are also abnormally long and sharp, and instead of trimming them, like many Feliniens, she prefers to keep them as sharp as possible. She is quite adept at using them to cut things, but avoids using them on flesh as she knows it’s not sanitary, and they aren’t as good as a proper scalpel.
Her skin is a darker olive complexion, showing she is from the Mediterranean area, Egypt in fact. She is proud of her heritage as a Coptic, and adds eye liner styled of old Egyptian Eye of Osiris to her make-up. Her eye shadow itself she has in patterns of gold and blue, with a strong Egyptian theme. She usually paints her lips red, and her nails are usually painted red as well. She always wears an ornate necklace with an Ankh on it, a family heirloom. It hangs right above her rather well endowed chest.
Physical Quirks
She had a hard time staying still, and keeping quiet when she’s working, either pacing when she isn’t with her hands on or in something, or humming a song while she is working. She also moves in an obviously feline manner, and is almost silent when she does move.
Clothing Style
Being a very professional woman, and a doctor, she does her best to keep this in how she looks. She usually wears a blazer and skirt at work, with a lab coat to contain all of her instruments. Purples and blues are the usual colour choices she goes with on any of these, but she does have a tendency of leaving her cleavage visible, finding it hard to fight the fae part of her attitude. She also wears very high heeled pumps, to the point where she is practically on her tip toes. She does this to add to her height, feeling short compared to others around. This doesn’t affect her movement at all, as she is as agile in them as she is without them. When she is going casual out of work, it’s usually a tied off shirt and shorts, liking to have freedom to move.
Mental Characteristics
Personal History
Born in Egypt, her parent moved out when she was 10 due to mass strife in the area and the killing of Coptics by the Muslim fanatics. They moved to the US as refugees under religious persecution, and found themselves in New York. She was a skilled gymnast in her extra curricular activities, but she never really wanted to do this as anything more than a hobby. As her family had a long history of being lawyers, she was encouraged to follow in their path, and money was not much of a problem for her family. But once she entered school, she found she didn’t like arguing, and just became stubborn with her parents, insisting she wanted to follow her own path.
When they asked her what she wanted to do, she proudly exclaimed she wanted to cut open dead people! Her parents were mortified, thinking she wanted to be some kind of mass murderer, till she pointed at the TV, where a cop show was on, and they were showing an autopsy. Reluctantly, they agreed to let her train to be a doctor, which they told her was required to do that job. And from that, she worked hard towards that goal, never once wavering in her determination, even if she did revise how she described her goal.
Education
As they weren’t short of money, she was able to make it into a good medical school and found herself at nearly the top of the class. She showed she was just as good with the living as she was the dead, but she always has fascination with death.
Employment
As soon as she finished her doctorate, she immediately went to the medical examiner’s office and begged him to let her be his assistant. The old man chuckled that no one had ever asked for the job before, usually having to be assigned her and happily agreed. Two years later, he retired and left the job in her capable hands.
Morality & Philosophy
A deliberate and meticulous woman, she never leaves anything unfinished and will research any avenue to make sure that her reports are complete and up to her perfectionist standards. She is very empathetic towards others, and wants to make sure that any death is fully explained so people can be at ease with the passing of their loved ones. She also feels that telling them the whole truth is important and can be very blunt about it.
Personality
Motivation
For her, serving the community and finding out the truth is her primary calling. She’s always had a fascination with death and feels that it is the greatest mystery. She spent a great deal of time learning the death rites of cultures all over the world, particularly the ones of her own ancestors, and so she is prepared for pretty much any request regarding the remains of loved ones. She also tries to help counsel those who are grieving, and has some connections with local therapists if people need that sort of help to cope.
Likes & Dislikes
She absolutely adores any ancient Egyptian art style, and even has posters of hieroglyphs in her office. She also loves to hum hymns when she’s working. She has a strong dislike for Muslims, especially after what she heard they did to some of her family members that didn’t escape. She also has a strong dislike of those who dismiss or belittle the traditions of other cultures.
Virtues
She wants to help everyone who has had a loved one pass, first by assuring them that if there’s anything she can do, she will. As she has contacts with all the funeral homes in the city, she can make sure that they can get a reasonable rate, and have everything taken care of. She will also make sure if the death is being investigated, that she will give them all the details, or ensure the police are informed fully to continue the investigation as appropriate.
Vices
As a fae, she is always very flirtatious, but she tries to keep this under wraps when dealing with relatives of the deceased. With others, she ends up rubbing against them and placing her hands on them. She also does tend to show a little more skin than most would expect of a person dealing with corpses.
Quirks
Because she always seemed to be better with corpses than live patients, it was often joked that she must be a necrophiliac. She would just pout and say that the dead tell her more than the living, and are more honest. Then she would usually wink and tell some horrible necrophiliac joke. She does, however, spend some time at the General Hospital with live patients, usually in the geriatric care, as she does have an affinity for older patients. She also has a very volatile temper for those who hurt elders, children or animals.
Values
She values traditions and serving her community. She is always friendly with other state or city employees, no matter what their job is, feeling that those who serve their community are the backbone of a civilized society. She also appreciates those who keep the traditions of their homes alive, especially while still managing to fit in with Western society.
Sexual Style
Not as strong of a libido as other fae, she is still quite flirtatious and open to relationships with those she finds attractive. She is always open to new and interesting things with anyone and everyone. She does tend to be a bit of a romantic though, but loves to be tied up, and tie up others and commence with teasing them.
Social
Contacts & Relations
While she is still on good terms with her family, they are spending more time travelling abroad, and so she doesn’t get to see them as often as she’d like. She doesn’t mind, as she knows they are just enjoying their final few years, and she wants them to be happy. She has a younger brother who ended up following in their parent’s footsteps and is now in charge of the family practice, and she will meet up with him on Sundays. She has a couple friends at work, but doesn’t really have any friends she meets outside of work.
Social Aptitude
A very good conversationalist, she is a very social person, and loves to learn about other people’s cultures. She also is very confident in her knowledge and will happily break into a discussion of her latest autopsy, even when it’s probably not the best time to broach the subject. If people compliment her on her work or service, she is surprisingly modest about it.
Religious Views
As a true Coptic, she follows the Christian Coptic path, and is very devout in it. She is tolerant of most other religions, with one exception, and feels no particular need to convert anyone. While she does enjoy the old myths of her ancient ancestors, she only uses it as fashion. They are not her belief structure.
Mannerisms
A very open and unreserved woman, she makes sure that people know she is there, even with her silent approaches, speaking to people as she comes up towards them. She will also lay her hand on those who are lost in thought, gently nudging them back so she can speak with them. She does, however, have a very dark sense of humour, enjoying jokes about subjects that people consider too morbid to joke about. She feels it is better to laugh at death then to fear it.
Hobbies & Pets
She likes to sew, especially embroidery, making little pillows for people as gifts. She also loves dancing, and will go out to any local dance events she can. She practices her gymnastics still, but does it as more of a form of exercise now. She’s not as agile as she used to be, but is still very flexible. She has one cat at home, a black and white tuxedo long hair named Oreo, who she has given his own social media account where she posts pictures of him.
Speech Style
She has a mild Egpytian accent, but over the years it has faded somewhat. She works to make sure it doesn’t completely vanish, however. She tend to speak slowly and with a very feline manner, almost like she’s purring.
Political Affiliation & Activism
More of a traditionalist and a conservative, she will tend to vote that way. She doesn’t, however, talk about it or her religion in a professional setting, especially with the persecution her family faced in the past. She only really does activism for the local Humane Society, where she got her cat, and where she also will borrow a dog from to take to the seniors in the hospital for their care. She happily jokes with them about the cat leading the dog around to help raise their spirits.
